Future Problem Solving encourages critical and creative thinking skills with real life problem solving
Future Problem Solving Program is a global educational organisation. Founded in 1974 by creativity pioneer Dr. E. Paul Torrance, the program’s goal is to inspire creativity in students and encourage them to develop a positive vision for the future.
Future Problem Solving teaches problem-solving strategies, collaboration, critical and creative thinking, and effective communication. This interdisciplinary approach helps develop ethical leadership skills. Students become equipped with the skills and vision to become global citizens.
Participation in one or more of our programs sees students investigate significant issues from a diverse range of community and global topics, including business and commerce, science, technology, social relationships and government.
These programs run across the full school year. All students begin with practice problems and preliminary project checkpoints, giving them structured opportunities to develop their skills through feedback and assessment.
After the practice problems, a competitive topic is offered for qualification into our National Finals. Top performers may then be extended the chance to compete and collaborate with problem solvers from all over the globe at the International Finals (IC) held in the United States in June the following year.
