Welcome to our last newsletter for 2022. We want to thank each of you for your continued support and participation in Future Problem Solving.
The team at Future Problem Solving Australia wish you and your loved ones a safe and happy festive season. We look forward to working with you in the coming year and wish you the very best for 2023.
The program materials for 2023 are AVAILABLE NOW.
We recommend early registration to allow you to start FPS in the first week of your 2023 school year. Remember, you only need to register one team to access the program materials. Additional teams can be registered at a later date.
A number of Coach Workshops have been scheduled for 2023. The workshops are designed for teachers new to the FPS program or existing coaches who need to update or refresh their coaching accreditation. All full-price course enrolments include complimentary registration in one of our FPS programs. As FPS feels it is beneficial to implement FPS in partnership with another colleague at your school; we offer a 50% discount to the second and third educators enrolled from your school.A number of Coach Workshops have been scheduled for 2023. In 2023 Future Problem Solving Australia is making three significant improvements to the Global Issue Problem Solving program. These are
• Implementation of FPSOnline.
• Enhancements to the Category List.
• Adoption of the FPSPI GIPS program evaluation guidelines.
FPSOnline
FPSOnline is a web-based platform provided by FPSPI. FPSOnline automates the submission of student booklets and the distribution of evaluations. It allows students to complete a booklet collaboratively online or traditionally using a paper booklet.
FPS Australia will work with coaches to make the transition to the FPSOnline platform smooth and hassle-free. Instructions and guidelines for FPSOnline use will be shared with coaches during the 2023 school year.
Category List
The Category List used for Steps 1 and 3 to increase creative thinking has been extended to include culture and religion, ethics and morality, science and two possible miscellaneous categories. Each category now has detailed definitions.
FPSPI GIPS Evaluation Guidelines
The FPSPI GIPS Evaluation Guidelines have recently undergone a rigorous and thorough review by the international evaluation committee, providing educational enhancements to how student work is assessed.
Please note that the changes to the evaluation guidelines will not greatly impact how you teach your students how to respond to each step’s requirements. Apart from the expanded category list, the most significant change is the addition of a requirement in Step 6 to explain how your highest-scoring solution in Step 5 addresses your criteria.
Overall, these changes allow the team to think more carefully about each step of their booklet to ensure there is a logical flow between all steps.
Future Problem Solving Australia acknowledges the traditional owners of this land. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
